About the App

Our Data Indigenous is a free digital tool for Indigenous communities and organizations interested in gathering, analyzing, and archiving their own data. Users can develop and share surveys on the web dashboard, accessible on any internet browser and shared surveys can be accessed on the Our Data Indigenous APP.

Our Data Indigenous was developed to address data accessibility issues and to help Indigenous communities and organizations collect their own data that reflects local priorities relating to health, culture, environment, language and more.

Our Data Indigenous  was developed in collaboration with the Environmental Conservation Lab as part of a CIHR funded project (Kitatipithitamak Mithwayawin), Indigenous partners, specialists, researchers, and advisory councils.

Data Collection

Our Data Indigenous users have the ability to collect data on a wide range of topics and interests that are relevant to participating Indigenous communities and organizations. Data can be collected on:

Data Ownership

Our Data Indigenous users retain absolute ownership and control of all data, ensuring it remains firmly under their authority. This provides participating users with the confidence that their data is protected, and reinforces their sovereignty over the information gathered and stored within the Our Data Indigenous application.

Data Security

Our Data Indigenous  uses security measures to protect collected data, limiting access to authorized users with participant login codes. These measures keep the stored information confidential and secure. Additionally, participant codes are used to enhance anonymity and protect the privacy of survey respondents. This layered approach strengthens data protection and shows a dedication to maintaining user trust in the platform’s security.
